How can Mediation help?

How can Mediation help?Mediation is a very effective way to settle the important terms of your divorce, rather than having to go through the tough, painful, lengthy and costly litigation process. The state of Minnesota encourages all couples to attempt an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process BEFORE bringing their case to court. Mediation is the most common ADR process because it provides a forum where a neutral third party (your mediator) facilitates communication between the two parties (and their attorneys if applicable) to promote a settlement. AMS Mediation provides affordable, client-centered mediation services for couples that empowers them to resolve issues in a fair and healthy way.

What to Expect from Mediation?

What to Expect from Mediation?AMS Mediation lets you know what to expect from mediation. You have at least one thing in common with many others who have found themselves searching for a mediator. Burnsville Mediation

Burnsville MediationFor many, divorce only happens once in your lifetime, if at all. It is considered a major life event, filled with stress, emotion and a great deal of uncertainty. Part of that stress and uncertainty comes from the unknown – life as you know it is changing, you may have to relocate, share custody of your children and rethink financial decisions. The divorce process can contribute to the stress as well – after all, you’ve likely never been through a divorce before.

Burnsville Family Mediator

Burnsville Family MediatorDivorce impacts an entire family, not just the two adults who have made the decision to divorce. If you share children, you must all make significant life adjustments as a result of your divorce. First and foremost, you will no longer all live under the same roof. This is one of the biggest changes for a family. Instead of seeing each other multiple times a day, each and every day of the week, you and your ex-spouse will share custody of your children and that means splitting the time that you spend together. This can be extremely difficult on all members of a family. AMS Mediation specializes in family mediation — focusing on all members of the family, rather than just the two adults in the marriage.

If I Cheat on My Wife Before I’m Divorced Can it Affect the Decision?

If I Cheat on My Wife Before I’m Divorced Can it Affect the Decision? When it comes to a divorce, Minnesota is considered a “no-fault” state, meaning that if you or your spouse believes that your marriage is broken to the point that it cannot be saved, the court will issue a divorce order, without regard to the circumstances leading to the divorce. So, adultery is actually not a factor when it comes to a decision about whether you can divorce in Minnesota. However, you should be aware that the reasons behind your divorce may come into play when it comes to settling issues such as spousal support.
